[September 13, CGTN Japanese]The movie “Visiting the Spectacular Scenery Depicted in Textbooks” is gaining tremendous popularity on Chinese social media and other sites. This makes Qicai Danxia Scenic Area, located in Zhangye City, Gansu Province, northwest China, a new popular tourist destination.
During this summer vacation, many tourists held their high school English textbooks in hand and took commemorative photos, comparing the Danxia landform (a cliff topography created by uplifting and attacking red sedimentary rocks) on the cover with the colorful hills that spread out in front of them.
Li Junling, deputy director of the General Management Department of Zhangye Qicaidanxia Scenic Area, said, “Tourists are no longer satisfied with just sightseeing and have disappeared.To meet that need, we are offering in-depth travel plans that allow visitors to see different terrains up close.” Tourists who choose the Kashima Deep Journey course will be accompanied by a dedicated guide who will ride a special electric cart around the most distinctive areas of the tourist area, allowing them to closely observe the angles of the rock formations and colorful striped patterns.
